About M7 Arts

M7 Arts is a Texas studio producing original layered paper and layered wood art. The work draws on ornamental tradition — gothic tracery, Celtic knotwork, sacred geometry, and forms inspired by European history and architecture — interpreted as sculptural, machine and hand-cut objects with depth, shadow, and, in some pieces, light.

Since 2018, M7 Arts has sold at craft fairs and festivals across Central Texas. New work often debuts at shows before a curated seasonal selection is offered online. Commissions are a regular part of the studio.

What We Make

Each piece begins as an original design and is built by hand: paper layers stacked for relief and shadow, or wood cut and layered for permanence and grain. Work ranges from framed shadowbox pieces to larger and backlit constructions designed for light to pass through the cuts.

The emphasis is ornamental art with meaning — interlace, tracery, geometry, architectural detail — work meant to hold attention up close and invite conversation.

About the Artist

Michael Harris has made his living as an artist for nearly forty years. He began as an illustrator for the U.S. Army in West Germany in the late 1980s, then spent more than twenty-five years in illustration, graphic design and art direction.

In 2018 he turned full-time to his own studio practice: cut-paper sculpture and, in recent years, layered wood. He has created more than a thousand one-of-a-kind pieces, sold primarily at festivals and craft fairs. Custom and commission work is available.
